What to confirm before a private-label project.
A private-label enquiry involves more than adding a logo to a product image. The selected appliance, its presentation and the information accompanying it need to be considered together. A written checklist helps keep these decisions connected as a project moves from an initial idea towards a confirmed specification.
Agree the product before the artwork
Record the selected model and configuration in a clear reference document. Discuss the functions, controls, materials, dimensions and accessories that matter to your intended customer. Electrical ratings and plug requirements also need model-specific confirmation for the destination market.
Keep a list of decisions that remain open. A colour preference, an accessory request or a packaging idea should not be treated as agreed simply because it appeared in an early conversation. Ask for confirmation of the options available for the selected product.
Prepare a usable branding package
Provide the correct logo artwork, colour references and guidance on placement. Identify where the brand should appear: the appliance, a label, an instruction document, the retail packaging or a combination of these. Check whether proposed marks remain readable at their final size.
Packaging needs its own review. Confirm the required languages, product name, included items and contact details. Establish who will supply translations, product information and any market-specific wording. These responsibilities are easier to discuss before artwork is prepared than after a pack has been approved.
Review samples and documents deliberately
Define the purpose of the sample review. You may need to examine appearance, handling, controls, packaging or the contents of the box. Record observations against the agreed brief and distinguish requested changes from questions that still need an answer.
Ask which product documents are available and check that their model references match the configuration being discussed. Do not infer certification, compliance or suitability from a general catalogue photograph. Any required assessment should be addressed for the product and destination concerned.
Finish with a written confirmation
- Chosen model, configuration and included accessories.
- Approved branding and packaging artwork versions.
- Sample observations and the status of requested changes.
- Documentation requirements and responsible contacts.
- Quoted quantity, minimum order requirement and commercial terms.
- Confirmed lead time and the next approval point.
Minimum quantities, customisation options and timing depend on the selected project and should be confirmed in the quotation. Review our sourcing conversation process, then contact KEVAN with your private-label requirements.
